Regional Hockey League

The Goulburn Valley Hockey Association (GVHA) and Hockey Central Victoria (HCV) have been in contact over the past several months on the reinstatement of a Regional Hockey League (RHL) A-Grade Competition between the 2 associations. Hockey Victoria (HV) has supported this collaboration.

On the 4th of February the GVHA and HCV, along with HV, agreed on the scope to progress RHL for 2020 including reinstating the RHL Commission to manage competition.  In addition GVHA and HCV agreed the RHL would be Chaired (as per rotation policy) by HCV’s Stuart McCleary and Deputy Chair GVHA’s Cameron Druitt, secretary support is provided by HCV’s Kylie Evans.

In response to the positive player feedback received by way of the Member Survey that was conducted last year, both associations are excited to see the return of the Regional Hockey League this coming season. The season is likely to begin in April and conclude by August.

An email was sent to all prospective clubs on 7th February from the RHL Commission requesting each competing club to appoint a representative on this commission, this also included an Agenda and date of 19th Feb for the first commission meeting. Clubs should have all received a reminder email from the RHL Commission Secretary on 10th February.

Critically clubs have been asked to submit team entries by the 14th of February to rhl.commission@gmail.com prior to the first RHL Commission meeting when the details of the season can be worked through with all the involved Club representatives.

Both GVHA and HCV look forward to the return of RHL and the prospect of future growth of this initiative.
